PROJECT BRIEF
MWH, a leading construction firm, faced challenges in efficiently tracking and managing project financial data. Their process relied on manually exporting data into Excel, which was time-consuming, prone to errors, and limited by Excel’s data handling capabilities. Sharing information via Excel posed risks of outdated or inaccurate data, making it difficult to keep stakeholders informed in real-time.
SOLUTION
We developed a comprehensive Power BI solution for MWH that transformed their financial data tracking and reporting process. By implementing a highly efficient and optimized data model, MWH gained real-time access to project metrics by district, company, and individual job levels. This eliminated the need for manual Excel exports and significantly reduced reporting time. Power BI’s capacity to handle large datasets, combined with automated data refreshes, ensured that all reports were current, eliminating the risks associated with outdated information. Additionally, row-level security was implemented, providing controlled access to different user groups, ensuring data confidentiality and accuracy.
With Power BI’s advanced data visualization and sharing capabilities, MWH can now easily share interactive dashboards and reports with team members and stakeholders. The dynamic features like cross-filtering, drill-throughs, and report-level filters made data exploration more intuitive and insightful. By integrating data from various sources into a unified platform, MWH can track the financial progress of construction projects more effectively, enabling them to make quicker, data-driven decisions and gain a complete, real-time overview of project status.
